The Holy Spirit

I have started working through a CD series by Beth Moore on the Holy Spirit. I have really love it so far. It is interesting to me that I basically have given very little thought to the Holy Spirit and done very little to develop a relationship with this person of the Godhead. Yet how amazing. God not only wants to create us, walk with us, die for us, and gather us in His arms, He wants to live in us, dwell with us, comfort us, guide us and be a very present help.

There is no greater level of intimacy than dwelling inside. What benefits we are offered as Christ-followers to have God, very God, living and working inside of us. So far Beth has brought out the fact that the Holy Spirit is there to guide us and give us wisdom. Even wisdom in circumstances that we could not possibly understand on our own.

Oh how important to learn to hear the Spirit and follow immediately. Beth gives the example of the Holy Spirit being able to guide us as easily as gently moving His thumb to the right or the left and having us immediately change direction. That would take a level of communion and sensitivity that would be amazing. And yet the benefits would be immense. Can you imagine if your every word and action were controlled by the One that knows everything and is working it all together for our good. It takes learning to walk blind. To blind our physical eyes that cry out for a return to the reality they know and open our spiritual eyes to see that which is unseen and trust that which is God's understanding and not our own.

There have been men and women that walked this way. They laid down their own lives and vision for the vision of the Spirit and they changed the world. Hudson Taylor comes to mind. He gave up so much to go to a country that did not want anything to do with him and left this life with a trail of people that desperately love the Lord and their descendants still call out to Him today.

It is very convicting and exciting. It is like finding out that I have super-powers that I never knew about. Now all I have to do is learn how to make the best use of them. It is a wonderful opportunity to walk in a deeper intimacy with our Maker.
